Tammy has known our Standard Schnauzer, Ivan, since he joined our family at 10 weeks of age. She helped us with all the challenges of managing a puppy and then an adolescent. We needed extra help during his adolescence because Ivan started exhibiting reactivity to a number of day to day neighborhood stimuli. We worked and worked, managed his environment and tried desperately to make his world less triggering. Then when Ivan was three years old he started redirecting his frustrations toward his human Mom. We immediately consulted with Tammy about his behavior. Tammy was concerned. Since she knew Ivan so well, and knew all the things we had done to create a peaceful co-existence, she recommended we see our veterinarian. It was time to try a medication to help Ivan cope.
As the humans in charge we want others to know how hard it was to face this decision. It's not a decision we could have made alone. We felt responsible and irrationally guilty for something that had become out of our control. While we know there's surely blame to share, Tammy helped us understand. One can only do so much to manage a dog's genetics. We felt sad and rather defeated, but Ivan needed help.
Fast forward 3 weeks. Ivan was on a low dose of medication and we were seeing improvement. By the time 6 weeks had passed, and we tweaked the medication a bit, Ivan was a new dog! Well, not entirely. He still barks at the postal carrier every day and chases squirrels with athletic genius, but now he can stop himself. He can run out his door, bark twice, then turn around and come in the house ALL BY HIMSELF! No calling and cajoling on our part. He could NOT do this one simple behavior before his life on meds. He also stopped redirecting his frustration toward his human Mom. It was fascinating to watch him start to think before he acted. Those extra seconds of contemplation allowed him to make the right choices and gave us an extra second to reward him.
This is why the title of our review states "We Have Been Changed for the Better". Thanks to Tammy's 20+ years of dog training experience, and her dedication to understanding the canine species, we can honestly say it has been the best year of Ivan's life. We're so happy he can finally enjoy his neighborhood, his family and his home in a bustling city. Put simply, training with Tammy results in change for the good.

I became a first-time dog owner in October 2023. When meeting my dog at the shelter, I learned that he struggled with some reactivity. I reached out to Tammy because I was very nervous to go through with his adoption.
Tammy has an incredible breadth of knowledge and experience. She provided me with the tools I needed to bring Bruce home and begin forming a positive relationship. We’re likewise grateful to have her continued support as challenges arise.
Thanks to Tammy, Bruce has made unbelievable progress since coming home. I never thought it would be possible, but we have successfully introduced him to several dogs and developed many strategies for managing his reactivity.
Tammy Crenshaw, of My Sensitive Tyke LLC, is the best!

Tammy is a wonderful trainer and "dog whisperer". My mom was having a hard time walking her very strong pit bull mix and in just a few visits her dog became so much more manageable! I also used Tammy to help with house training my recently adopted puppy and she was incredibly helpful, with so much knowledge! And the dogs absolutely adored her!

Hi Tammy, Just wanted to let you know he’s doing fantastic. He’s going on walks, anxiety-free (for the most part) three times a day, guests are able to come over and he’s calm(ish), and he’s just the best. Thank you for your faith and commitment to Henry, we wouldn’t be where we are without you.

When I bought a second golden retriever I knew I needed some help training a dog and a young puppy at the same time. A friend recommended Tammy Crenshaw to me. I was hesitant to train over zoom. But after a few lessons I realize how much I like training my dogs over zoom. I train my dogs and he learns to listen to me, not a trainer. Tammy is so great at explaining everything to me. I can’t imagine doing it any other way. Tammy is an amazing dog trainer. Her understanding of dogs is amazing. I love all of her positive ideas and information. Tammy had helped me and my dogs so much and I look forward to each session. I would recommend her to anyone who needs a dog trainer. Thanks Tammy for the great training.

“About a year ago I adopted two 5-year-old Bassets who were rescued from an AKC breeder who was hoarding 60 Bassets. They’d been neglected, unsocialized, and still suffer from an extreme fear of people, noises, and new environments. A friend of mine in Michigan referred me to Tammy, who is her trainer there. I was hesitant because I’m in San Francisco, but my friend convinced me to at least talk to her. Well, Tammy and I have been working together via Zoom for months now, and I’ve learned so much! I’m AMAZED by how far the girls have come. Tammy’s years of experience, wealth of knowledge, training style, and rates are beyond compare. I won’t be stopping our sessions anytime soon!”

Tammy at the The Sensitive Dog, LLC is absolutely amazing. My rescue pup, a somehow scaredy cat 80-lb pibble, had so many fear issues and was terrified of getting into the car. It meant no travel, trips to the park, or critical trips to vets, etc. Tammy worked with Sugar to finally get him to trust that cars weren’t the enemy. He now gladly hops right on in, loves going on adventures, and is generally so much less fearful of life. Our quality of life has been transformed thanks to her magic and for believing that he was capable of anything. When he’s ready to learn how to drive the car himself, I know exactly who will be able to teach him. Thank you, Tammy! You are truly a life changer!! ♥️♥️♥️
